About Kate
Raised on 80+ acres in Eastern Washington, I developed a deep love for nature, including both flora and fauna. During middle school, I worked at a local family veterinary clinic, but after discovering I couldn't handle blood, my dream of becoming a vet was quickly dashed. Nevertheless, my passion for animals persisted, and I often rescued homeless cats, sneaking them home in swim towels and duffle bags.
In 2010, I began fostering cats for Seattle Persian and Himalayan Rescue as well as Feral Care, and later expanded my efforts to include the Bellevue Humane Society, turning what started as a hobby into a true passion. From 2011 to 2016, I volunteered with Purrfect Pals as an adoption counselor and foster home and continue to support the organization to this day, especially during their annual Black Cat Ball each October. More recently, I've been fostering small animals and cats through the Auburn Humane Society since 2023.
Over the years, I've been a pet parent to a wide array of animals, including cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and geese—creating what many affectionately call "Noah's Ark, where everyone is spayed and neutered" on my 10-acre property. In addition to my personal pet care, I've also gained part-time experience working for professional pet-sitting companies and have looked after numerous pets for friends and family.
